This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a subscription.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a subscription.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
i've tried to put artist comments on my work, and it has been recommended to me to do such, but i simply just can't do it. an art teacher of mine once told me that when you have pieces up in a gallery, you can't stand there next to them and explain what they mean to each person who views them. your pieces just have to work. i read in my aesthics book in high school that a person spends 30 seconds on each piece of work when browsing a gallery, if something catches their eye then they spend a longer time than that. so when i put two and two together, your piece has no choice but to work. you can't be with it and hold it's hand, talk to people to make sure they understand and you can't force someone to look at your piece for more than 30 seconds, so... to be successful in any concept you try to convey you should be able to explain yourself in your piece and if this concept is executed well enough not only will your viewer understand but they will stop and look at it for more than 30 seconds, once they've achieved a longer viewing they obviously are thiking and considering your piece and if they're doing that, chances are they'll spend enough time to understand it and don't even need you to explain it.
for the longest time i hated having to title my pieces. i found it so difficult. but as i've continued to study art i've found how vital a title is to your piece--a painting with splashes of red against white named 'untitled' can mean absolutely nothing to your audience even if you're trying to be "contemporary" or "expressionistic" or "conceptual", it means absolutely nothing to them and they're not going to get it; a painting with splashes of red against white named '[something contemporary]' or '[someting expressionistic]' or '[something conceptual]' will only enhance the message of your contemporary ideas or expression or concept and will aid your viewer into what you want them to see. don't get me wrong, sometimes this isn't the case. in some abstract art or even abstract expressionism color is key and very, very important. this focus of color is not a mere surface but is rather a psychological delve. a wonderful and intelligent use of color on a canvas without a title can be just as powerful with evoking emotions just the same as having a title. in fact, post modern ism was to achieve such--capturing your audience on their psychological level of past experiences, present involvement and future thoughts and hopes if any. but whatever the case, there is initially something you wanted your viewer to think about.
ok, so those are my current thoughts. execution and titles. i hope i was clear enough with my words. i'm not as great with them as i used to be (my words, that is). but all in all, i will continue to not talk about my pieces unless asked or if in conversation of such. if you get it then i did ok, if you don't then i need to try harder next time.
sup yo! what's new? how's cali? we should do a collab project... i really need to get back into art. I may be moving to chicago for graphic design. ttl
